LEXINGTON, Ky., July 6, 2015 - For PGA golfer Louis Oosthuizen, it doesn’t get much better than his Stearns & Foster Lux Estate mattress.
Oosthuizen, the 2010 British Open Champion and runner up in the 2012 Masters, transports it from event to event as he competes each week on the PGA Tour.
However, complications arose when Oosthuizen was in University Place, Wash., for the June 15-21 U.S. Open. He was unable to make arrangements for his bed to accompany him, so he reached out to Stearns & Foster for help.
The mattress maker responded by making him another one.
“I bought my Stearns & Foster mattress before The Players Championship, and I’ve been taking it with me on the road to tournaments since then,” said Oosthuizen. “When I was unable to make arrangements to bring it to Washington with me for the U.S. Open, Stearns & Foster came to the rescue.”
Once the team at Stearns & Foster’s Lacey, Wash., facility received the specifications for Oosthuizen’s preferred mattress (a queen-sized Lux Estate Emily Rose model), they went to work.
“Elite athletes like Louis know that a great night’s sleep is essential to performing in competition, so we were happy to help out prior to such an important tournament,” said Rob Cash, director of manufacturing for the Tempur Sealy production facility in Lacey. “Our team of craftsmen and women were proud to custom build Louis’ mattress exactly to the high standards that all Stearns & Foster mattresses are built to. It’s identical to the mattress golfers and golf fans across the country can buy.”
While every Stearns & Foster mattress is signed by a master craftsman after it is built, Oosthuizen’s mattress had one additional message squeezed into the signature area of the mattress: “Louis – Good luck in the U.S. Open. – Christine Hoyt”
