Oct. 4, 2013 - The Polish furniture exports to Russia are expected to exceed EUR200 million in 2013, the Dziennik Gazeta Prawna reported, quoted by the Warsaw Business Journal (WBJ). If in 2009, Poland delivered to Russia furniture worth EUR90 million, in 2012 the value reached EUR166 million.
Tomasz Wiktorski, the owner of B+R Studio and expert at the Polish Chamber of Commerce of Furniture Manufacturers, said to Dziennik Gazeta Prawna, that Russia will enter the top 5 Polish furniture export markets in the near future. At the present, it is on 9th place. Mr. Wiktorski added that Polish furniture deliveries to Russia have increased by 40% every year and the positive trend is foreseen to continue.
Even if some exporters fear that Russia could impose some potential trade constraints, says WBJ, like higher tariffs, Polish furniture manufacturers shouldn’t worry. One of Russia’s conditions to become a member of the World Trade Organization was to lower its tariffs on imported furniture by 2018.
